Born and raised in the vibrant community of South Chicago, I have always had a deep passion for various forms of self-expression. Reading, writing, biking, and serene nature walks have been integral parts of my life, but the most obvious way I assert my individuality is through my fashion choices.
At the age of 17, I embarked on a transformative journey that took me far from home to upstate New York, where I pursued a degree in English. This marked a turning point in my life as it was the first time I found myself truly alone, facing the challenges and uncertainties that come with it. To add insult to injury, I was attending a predominantly white institution, and the persistent feeling of imposter syndrome weighed heavily on my shoulders. I fully felt like an outsider in this new world.
Amidst this profound change, fashion became my sanctuary. My outfits became more than just clothing; they were powerful expressions of my identity and resilience during a time when the world seemed to be testing me at every turn.
Now, my mission is to inspire and empower others to embrace their personal style as a means of self-acceptance. I believe that fashion can be a powerful medium through which we can reclaim our confidence and assert our unique identities, despite the challenges life may throw our way.
